The core of my practice is rooted in harm-reduction and integrates a variety of modalities while showing up in many flavors including continuity of care, empathy, and gentle guidance. Throughout the course of our relationship, we will grow a bond while identifying your natural coping styles, your hopes & desires for how you envision this process to unfold, and your fears & concerns for what lies ahead. Sometimes this looks like my listening and honoring your specific needs while also offering feedback and insight. Sometimes it looks like guiding you through positions that optimize your body to stretch, relax, and open. And sometimes this looks like me fielding your questions as they come to the surface. By its nature, my approach fits a wide range of families with their evolving needs.

My path into doula work began at age nine, standing witness to my sister giving birth. That moment reverberated into a love of supporting families navigating pregnancy. From the onset of my doula career six years ago, I craved an intimate partnership with mentors to learn about all things d o u l a. I wholeheartedly found my people with Metta Lineage after an initial birth doula skills class with Penny Simkin* in 2012, and after two years of exploring various trainings. To describe Metta Lineage in six words, I would offer: robust, profound, nimble, integrative, collaborative, relational.

My role as Metta Certified Doula is the accumulation of 3+years in apprenticeship learning under the wings of seasoned doulas Christy Hall and Gracie Koester. Under their guidance I learned to refine my practice and offer a robust doula experience by building fresh skills and refining old ones. In this process I’ve grown in my experience to serve a wide range of families including private clients as well as those who are part of Project Nurture--a coordinated care team providing doula support for pregnant people with substance use disorders.
Metta Lineage taught me about collaborative strength, and the value in being part of something greater than myself. At the heart and center of our work, we are constantly aligning the needs of clients and doulas alike. When we work together, you are also peripherally supported by a whole team of amazing, dedicated, and insightful doulas.
r e f l e c t i o n
Over the years I’ve served nearly 80 families encompassing hospital and home birth, as well as pregnancy loss and termination. Clients have often remarked that my calm and supportive presence helped them feel prepared, confident and at ease, even when the time came for them to turn inward and draw from their own instinctual coping strategies. Clients have also reflected that my foundation of support made a valuable contribution to the way they processed, viewed, and related to their entire experience. When you and I decide to work together, I am wholly committed to walking this road alongside you.
e x p a n s i o n
My particular style of doula support is woven together by an insatiable appetite for on-going education from a variety of people, schools, and courses including: Safe Passage founder and birth trauma counselor Jodi Hall, homebirth Midwife Whapio Diane Bartlett°, full-spectrum traditional Midwife Molly Dutton-Kenny, local lactation wonder Melissa Coleᐩ, Core Awareness educator Liz Koch˟, Elderberry School of Botanical Medicine, The School of Forest Medicine, and Birthingway College of Midwifery’s year-long, in-depth Botanical Medicine course. My approach integrates pregnancy, plant medicine, physiology, and trauma informed care to offer you tools that might otherwise be challenging to access.

When I am not holding space for you and your loved ones, it’s likely you will find me writing, making plant medicine, singing, hiking, backpacking, scootin’ around on my scooter, tending to the garden, and reading, reading, reading.
Experiences old and new have created a strong groundwork for how I hold space for you and your loved ones. Respecting the strength and wisdom of your intuition during pregnancy opens up the possibility for you to create a story that is heart-centered and meaningful. In this way, you gift light into this world, whether it be the birth of your child or the heart-centered story you connect with about your experience. Or both. I am honored to walk this path alongside anyone heading into a time of change and transition.

"Birthing was the most vulnerable and simultaneously empowering experience I've ever known in my lifetime. The birth itself was colored by the spirit of kindness and presence of grace. Luna Lea arrived at my birth when my birth plan was about to be chucked out the window. Her presence radiated a complete and steadfast trust in the process that was palpable enough for me to get present with the sensations rather then investing in the distraction of pain. Luna's adept guidance kept me in touch with my dream of a narcotic-free birth. And her depth of touch aided me in feeling pleasure and certainty that I had everything I needed even in the most trying of moments. I believe that this is Luna's calling. She will humbly blush at the suggestion that she is a master of her craft. She is a remarkable woman and a master at her craft & art form. I would love to sing her praises further if you have any questions about the particulars of this gifted woman and her mighty soul." --Sarah
"Luna Lea is amazing! When she arrived, we had already been going for hours. Once I witnessed her gifts and how helpful she was with Sarah, I felt safe enough to take a rest for a moment as I was exhausted. I could tell that Sarah was in good hands. Luna's respect, skill and authentic presence helped us get through the most challenging moments and supported Sarah in her hope of a narcotic-free birth. Even more important than that was knowing we had a strong and trustworthy ally with us regardless of the path we might have chosen no matter what turns things could have taken. Thanks Luna!" --Brian
"Luna was an awesome, calm, knowledge filled, resourceful person prior to and during the birthing process. So nice to have her presence as the process changed dramatically." --Marci
"I'm so grateful to have had Luna with me before, during, and after the birth. She made sure to attend to our desires and needs for our birthing visions. She had great insight and provided much needed options. We would recommend Luna with confidence to any person needing birthing care." -Todd and Wellen
